What this role is asking for.
The role / impact The Engineering Manager leads, grows and manages a team of engineers building software for new or improved features in Xero's products and its associated service delivery systems. Serving as a leader of individual contributors and technical leads, you act as a coach and advisor to your direct reports, cultivating a high-performance environment by providing guidance, building talent and aligning everyone with Xero's strategic objectives. You champion processes and practices that enable engineers to get great work done safely, while supporting and growing the next generation of technical talent. By fostering a culture of continuous empathy towards customers, you ensure your team delivers better quality software faster to make a measurable impact on the overall product vision. You own the hiring process for your group, identify skill gaps and empower your team to make fast, decentralized decisions that reduce delays and enable innovative solutions. Your focus remains on keeping the team unblocked and accelerated in their adoption of modern engineering practices while consistently meeting service level objectives and security standards. You embrace and push for new technology and processes, such as artificial intelligence, to drive efficiency and stay at the forefront of engineering excellence.
