What this role is asking for.
What is the job? Build the Future of Medical Cannabis in Poland This is a genuine founder-style role. You will be Montu's first person on the ground in Poland, with a mandate to build the business from zero: the legal entity, the licences, the supply chain, the clinical model, and eventually the team. You'll own the market-entry strategy while remaining deeply involved in execution. In the early stages, you'll wear multiple hats - meeting with regulators and healthcare providers, negotiating commercial partnerships, solving operational challenges, and ensuring patients can access life-changing treatment. As the business grows, you'll build and lead a high-performing local team, creating the foundations for long-term success. Working closely with our global leadership team, you'll bring together clinical operations, patient experience, regulatory affairs, tech, logistics & supply chain, finance and product to build a scalable, compliant business in a highly regulated healthcare environment. We're looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves building from scratch, and is equally comfortable defining strategy as they are making things happen. Please note on contract type: this role will start on a contract basis while we establish the Polish legal entity, with the intention to move to permanent employment once the entity is set up and operational. What will you be doing? - Lead the end-to-end launch of Montu in Poland, including establishing a new Polish legal entity and working with the wider European teams for support - Own and manage daily operations for Montu Poland, ensuring effective execution across all functional areas as the business is built up - Develop and execute market entry and growth strategy to establish and scale the Polish business - Build and manage relationships with importers, wholesalers and suppliers of medical cannabis products in Poland - Navigate Polish regulatory and licensing requirements for the import, wholesale and distribution of cannabis-based medicines - Develop and negotiate the local supply chain, including distribution and logistics partners - Scope and, where relevant, help establish clinical partnerships or a clinic model to support patient access - Identify, develop and execute new commercial opportunities and strategic partnerships - Build and implement operational processes and SOPs across key areas including patient onboarding, logistics, clinical operations, and compliance - Recruit, train and develop a high-performing local team as the business grows - Collaborate closely with central UK/EU functions (Regulatory, Product, Commercial, Finance, and Partnerships) to ensure alignment and operational excellence - Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational and commercial success - Represent Montu with local regulators, government bodies, industry associations and healthcare stakeholders What do you need? - A genuine entrepreneurial mindset - energised by building something from zero, without an existing team or in-market infrastructure to lean on - Strong track record of leading small-to-medium teams and building operational structures from scratch - Experience owning or working closely with P&L responsibility - Experience navigating Polish regulatory and licensing requirements within a regulated sector (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare, or cannabis) - Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-focused mindset - Fluent Polish and strong professional English, written and spoken - Excellent stakeholder management skills, including with regulators, government bodies and senior internal/external partners - Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-changing environments, working autonomously while reporting into a remote, international leadership team - Willingness to travel across Poland as the business requires - Must be fluent in both Polish and English Nice to have: - Experience within the Polish cannabis sector - ideally including import, wholesale or distribution of cannabis-based products - Established relationships with suppliers, importers and wholesalers in the Polish cannabis or pharmaceutical market - Experience setting up or scaling a legal entity or business operation in Poland - Experience establishing or operating a clinic or patient-facing healthcare service About Us Montu is a leading international medical cannabis company with operations across Europe and Asia-Pacific, working to make cannabis therapy accessible, reliable and properly integrated into modern healthcare.
